Representation (Diplomatic Representative – Conditions – International Jurisdiction – Diplomatic Immunity – Consequences – Lack of Jurisdiction of Omani Courts over Foreign Embassies)
A diplomatic envoy enjoys immunity from the civil jurisdiction of the receiving state, except in the following cases:
A real action relating to private immovable property situated in the territory of the receiving state.
An action relating to succession in which the diplomatic agent is involved as a private person and not on behalf of the sending state.
An action relating to any professional or commercial activity exercised by the diplomatic agent outside the scope of their official functions.
This is pursuant to Article 31 of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, which governs the legal status and privileges of diplomatic representatives.
