The criminal legislator uses the term "participation" in two distinct senses:

1. In the general sense of contributing to the commission of a crime, as intended in Article 38 of the Penal Code.

2. In the specific sense of multiple perpetrators jointly committing the crime, where the participant is considered a co-principal offender, as referred to in Article 370 of the same law.
